  • Hello. Can I ask you a question? Why does it say Level 1 for everything? I'm on level 17 and I still don't have some of the plants say level 1.

  • They replaced the Popeye Fish with a second Clown Triggerfish! I'm so sad, it was my favorite epic fish, and actually everyone's was replaced too, even yours! It was such an amazing fish! ;(

We'll miss you Popeye fish... ;(

BTW, I also noticed you finally got the blue kelp on rock! Along with the bule bicolor anglefish! Congrats on getting your last plant! :)

  • Hi Entharion,

I was experimenting a bit with some kind of a page icon/thumbnail. Currently many pages only show some text parts in their links and I think it would be much better to have graphics representing the pages.

    I read this article:

    http://community.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Kirkburn/How_images_are_picked_to_represent_articles

And tried to created such an image on one page:

    Page rare plants seeds
    I then noticed two things:
    1. 1: The title (which is some work because i moved the letters one by one by hand) is a bit redundant because the page title is displayed also as a text box in the link.
    1. 2: The graphics will have to be a bit less wide to fit into the link box. (Berhaps roughly 130x115 will do)

What do you think. Does it make sense to add such an "icon"? I would think of some blue frame (like above but without title).

    • I have had similar concerns regarding what shows up on category pages, and have wanted to do something about it for some time. I do think it makes more sense to have images in the thumbnails, rather than text. It will probably all work out if we decide on a theme for all pages on the wiki, where either an infobox or navbox (the two are quite similar in appearance, but function a little differently) appears on every page, and contains an image that the system used by Wikia can easily pick up and display.

On the subject of the look and feel of the wiki, I have recently begun to style some of the elements that I think will create a feeling of immersion (in the wiki, not water ;p) when navigating the wiki. I have not published any of it yet, as I'm still working out how CSS syntax works in this environment. Using identifiers in the main css pages and calling (or selecting) them in templates and other pages seems straightforward enough, but determining urls for images, etc. seems a bit tricky.

  • Just some content ideas ... Patrick - a pioneer of the game and developer of guides for participating in cooperative quests and coop tasks. ElTablette's – development of reference sheets and statistical analysis of the game’s internal workings. I think I’d also reference Angel’s Visual Guide. It’s still very useful. Anyone who had link on the master list of useful links [e.g., Marvel (I think) was doing the list on bugs and requested improvements.]

    • Hi. Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate your interest and willingness to assist on this. :)

I do intend to give Patrick more of a description, and your ideas are certainly welcome. I will again look into his contributions and describe them appropriately.

I have already referenced Angel's visual guides and other charts, etc. I believe that acknowledging her efforts and where to find her work is sufficient here. I leave it up to interested parties to find them on GD if they wish to. Both ElTablette and I have been pulling the data for the wiki directly from the current code files, in order to be as up-to-date as possible with the information, and none of Angel's work is directly posted here. It is up to the admin/mod of GD to provide adequate links to her work on their site. ;)

I will make sure that Marvel is added to the credits. Thank you for pointing it out.

If you think of other names that are missing, please do not hesitate to share them. It has been nearly a year since I pored through the mass of early work at GD, and it is easy to get lost in it and overlook valuable contributors. So any suggestions you offer will help keep focus. Thanks again. :)

    • Upon reflection, I agree that you’ve covered Angel’s work – she simply produced so much volume that it’s almost impossible to give her too much credit. I think it’s always a good idea to thank people, but it’s incredibly difficult to find and thank all the deserving people. And describing contributions is even tougher. I would probably just start with the lists of links that both you and ElTablette built and follow them to find the authors of lasting content. And even then you will miss people. For example, I remember Bazilla providing a very helpful summary of general statistics, but I don’t know how much made it into a final reference document. In a collaborative environment, it’s simply hard to track how ideas build off one another.

Re the wiki – I already knew that the content was being built independently. I’ve spent lots of years in the systems world plus I’ve built my own spreadsheets to manage my game. To me it has been obvious that you, ElTablette, and Angel are all talented analysts and equally obvious that you are different people and that there are subtle differences in the work you each produce. To a huge extent the structure of the game drives the best structure for reference materials. When multiple people independently come up with similar results, I think of it as confirmation of the results.

    • The thoughts you mention here are well put, and I agree with what you have said. Also, I appreciate the confirmation of our data handling methods here.

I have files (and I would guess that ElTablette does as well) that reside on only my computer, which could demonstrate the process by which we gather and lay out the data, but I feel they would be of value only to that end, and not to the general player base for the game. Raw data is boring; even I don't enjoy looking at it after awhile. ;p

  • Hi Entharion,

a user at Gamesdreams mentioned that data on this wiki could be copied from the gd-forum. I denied that for the new pages. But would it be possible that the old pages from the previous author contain such data?

  • I just noticed you got the violet cabbage plant! Congrats!

    • Thanks! I actually got two of them within a few minutes of each other. I planted a total of 21 seeds, with 5 or 6 of them spectacular and the rest extraordinary. I got the cabbages from extraordinaries, lol. Now if only the blue kelp would show up. ;)

  • Hi Entharion, I told wikia to change my username , so it's going to change in 2-3 buisness days. The new username I have chosen is "Red Hawkfish's Number One Fan!" becuase that is my Games Dreams username, I like the Hawkfish, and it's more "Nemoish". ;)

  • I freed some Messages on the other Forum.

I also made some progress with the calculator scripts on wikia. For public use I would probably need admin rights to add the script. I will try out a first patch calculator script locally on my page tomorrow.
